We are all different shapes and sizes, which is what makes us beautiful! To make the most of your individual shape, the majority of you will need some alteration to your wedding dress to make it the perfect fit for you.

As a bridal shop owner, I cannot stress enough how important it is to have your alterations done properly, by a trusted seamstress or tailor. It can make all the difference when a dress looks properly fitted. We’ve worked closely with Goda’s tailoring for years and she is amazing.

There are some alterations that most brides will need before their big day, such as adjusting a hem or shortening shoulder straps.  But there are many more ways in which alterations can enhance your overall look, and a multitude of problems that they can fix.  Here are some examples of our brides and the alterations they have had.

Alterations come in handy if you lose weight on the run up to the wedding, or if you purchase a smaller off-the-peg dress.  As you can see here, altering a dress two sizes down is no problem!

Our bride fell in love with everything about this dress, except for the two small gathers at the back. No problem - a bit of clever alteration and... ta dah!

As you can see from the pictures here, the work done is incredibly skilled and specialised.  That is why it is so important to order your wedding dress from a bridal shop you can trust, who works closely with their seamstress and knows their skills.  You don’t want to be persuaded to buy a dress that doesn’t fit, only to find no one can alter it for you!

I hope you enjoyed my blog.  Please ask in store for more information about alterations.
